HPP - Baltimore PROVIDING MENSTRUAL hygiene PRODUCTS TO THOSE IN NEED and ADVOCATING for AN END TO THE STIGMA OF MENSTRUATION

AN AFFILIATE OF THE HOMELESS PERIOD PROJECT

HPP - Baltimore brings The Homeless Period Project's mission to Charm City

HPP - Baltimore supplies menstrual hygiene products to the individuals who need them most. We fight period poverty in Baltimore by partnering with local shelters, nonprofits, and schools to ensure that everyone has access to the products they need to live comfortably.

PERIOD POVERTY AFFECTS EVERYONE.

Ending period poverty is everyone's responsibility. Period poverty impacts all people, especially womxn and gender minorities, folx of color, and the unhoused. Inadequate menstrual hygiene can cause or exacerbate serious health problems. It can also stop menstruators from reaching their full potential by forcing them to miss out on opportunities crucial to their growth. You can help end period poverty in your community by donating products, volunteering, and advocating for change.

YOU CAN FIGHT PERIOD POVERTY IN BALTIMORE.

You can host a Period Party. Period Parties are fun, casual fundraisers where guests bring menstrual products to create Period Packs containing menstruation essentials. Drop the Packs off to us after the Party and we will donate them to an organization in need.

You can make a tax-deductible donation through The Homeless Period Project's website. To put your donation to use in Baltimore, write "HPP - Baltimore" in the "Additional Information" section.

You can purchase menstrual hygiene products—like menstrual pads and liners, tampons, individually-wrapped hygiene wipes, travel-sized tissues, and quart-sized ziploc bags—and send them to us. Purchase through our Wishlist or email hppbaltimore@gmail.com for more involvement opportunities.

DONATING IS JUST THE FIRST STEP.

In addition to collecting and distributing products, HPP - Baltimore educates and advocates for an end to the stigma surrounding menstruation. To do this important work, we need help reaching legislators, speaking to community leaders, and writing grants. Become an advocate! Email hppbaltimore@gmail.com for more information.

MEET HPP - BALTIMORE'S FOUNDERS

Jo and Rachael founded the Baltimore Chapter of The Homeless Period Project in 2020 after seeing how the Baltimore community was impacted by lack of access to menstrual products.

Jo (left) and Rachael (right), co-founders of HPP - Baltimore

"All womxn should have access to sanitary products, yet many choose to miss school or work due to lack of menstrual products. People should not have to choose between hygiene and affording food for the month. We hope that the donations we receive through the Homeless Period Project can help womxn all over Baltimore live happier and healthier lives." - Jo

"Period poverty isn't something most people are familiar with. Many people take access to menstrual products for granted, but not everyone has the luxury of affording them. Our mission at HPP - Baltimore is to ensure that the people who need menstrual products—regardless of gender, age, housing status, or any other characteristic—are able to obtain them." - Rachael

HPP - Baltimore was featured on the podcast Tampon Talk with Mary! Check out their episode to learn more about Jo and Rachael's thoughts on period poverty in Baltimore.
